Novel Technique to Treat Common Femoral Artery Pseudoaneurysm using Angio-Seal Closure Device

Abstract: Iatrogenic common femoral artery pseudoaneurysm is a well-described vascular access complication. Several methods have been proposed to treat these pseudoaneurysms. In this report, we present three cases of successful pseudoaneurysm closure using a novel method of retrograde pseudoaneurysm access and thrombosis with Angio-Seal (St Jude Medical, St Paul, MN) closure device. This technique appears safe, effective, and reduces patient discomfort.

“…Endovascular treatment with covered stents and coil embolization is another alternative option that is mainly used for the treatment of FAPs. In addition, the use of closure devices is a novel technique for FAP treatment [15]. All approaches have their distinct advantages and disadvantages.…”

“…Although we describe the off-label use of the Angio-Seal vascular closure device to repair femoral pseudoaneurysm, our report is not enough to demonstrate the safety and efficacy of this method. Previous papers had described the same method 6, 7. However, we additionally reported the long-term outcome by 3D-CTA.…”
