Complex implant therapy can include methods requiring several phases of treatment, and they are usually referred to as one-stage and two-stage approaches. The reasons for the staged approach include the extraction of non-restorable teeth. Such a treatment approach may offer a fixed provisional prosthesis during implant osseointegration that enables the patient to avoid removable prostheses. However, this case aims to demonstrate how to manage the soft tissue in the pontic region prior to immediate implant placement. A 45- years old female patient presented with non-restorable teeth from the maxillary right lateral incisor to the left lateral incisor were removed, followed by socket preservation and fixed provisional restoration from right maxillary canine to left canine. Soft tissue was contoured to achieve ovate shape by first with a tooth-supported provisional restoration from the maxillary left canine to the right canine and then by re-shaping with carbide and diamond burs; after the tissue obtained the desired architecture, implants were inserted on sites of the maxillary right lateral incisor and left central lateral incisor without immediate loading, but the same provisional fixed restoration maintained the previously contour tissue. Once implant osseointegration was achieved, screw-retained provisional restoration was placed, followed by the definitive fixed implant restoration. Because the soft tissue was previously contoured, the screw-retained implant provisional restorations maintained the tissue architecture. These initial contouring procedures provided a more predictable outcome for the final tissue contour after implants were inserted. The final re-shaping with the implant screw-retained provisional restorations was minimum, and prostheses followed the previously provided tissue architecture. Before the endosteal implants are inserted, soft-tissue contouring prior to implant placement may provide a more predictable outcome of the final tissue architecture for pontic and implant areas. The patient and clinician can evaluate the success and limitations of tissue contouring prior to implant placement. It may also shorten the time required for tissue contouring with provisional implant restorations.

Purpose This in vitro study compared the trueness of removable partial denture cobalt‐chromium (Co‐Cr) frameworks fabricated by 3D‐printed pattern casting and those fabricated by selective laser sintering (SLS) with different palate vault depths. Materials and methods A partially edentulous Kennedy class II mod.1 maxillary model with a deep palatal vault was used, which was modified and duplicated to produce another model with medium palatal vault depth. After model scanning, the partial denture framework was designed using CAD software to fabricate 20 removable partial denture (RPD) frameworks. For each model, two types of frameworks were fabricated. For the 1st type, the 3D‐printed resin patterns were formed using a 3D printer, and then casting was performed (AM‐cast framework). For the 2nd type, a direct metal laser sintering machine was used for the RPD frameworks fabrication (SLS framework). 3D scanning of fabricated frameworks was performed, and the standard tessellation language (STL) file was superimposed over the STL file from the original design, and the average deviation was recorded. Data were statistically analyzed. Results Two‐way ANOVA test was used, followed by the least significant difference (LSD) for pair‐wise comparisons to estimate any significant differences between groups. The RPD frameworks with high palatal vault depth represent larger discrepancies mean value than that with the medium palatal vault depth with a highly significant statistical difference. SLS shows less deviation than AM‐cast CO‐Cr frameworks with highly significant statistical differences whatever palatal vault depth. Conclusion RPD metal frameworks fabricated with SLS have better accuracy compared to those fabricated by AM‐cast, regardless of the depth of the palatal vault.

Objective The aim of this study was to study the clinical characteristics and patient satisfaction of the porcelain veneer aesthetic restoration at the Central Odonto-Stomatology Hospital, Vietnam. Materials and Methods This is a cross-sectional descriptive study of 94 teeth in 12 patients with indications for glass-ceramic restorations at the Department of Prosthodontics at the Central Odonto-Stomatology Hospital during the period from July 2021 to December 2022. Porcelain veneer aesthetic restorations in patients were evaluated using FDI World Dental Federation clinical criteria for the evaluation of veneer restorations for the esthetic parameters, functional parameters, biological parameters, and reliability. The evaluation was done immediately after installation and after 3 months. Evaluation of aesthetics, function, biology, and satisfaction was done using a scale (Scale 1–5). Data were analyzed using SPSS 18 software and descriptive statistics were calculated. Results It showed that the achieved results were good in terms of good to very good shape (100%) and good to very good color (98.8%). Three months after installation, the veneer restorations were stable in shape and color. The restorations were aesthetically and functionally satisfactory with no signs of broken or detachment. Conclusion Porcelain veneer restorations helped to improve the tooth shape and color. The patients were satisfied with the veneer restorations.
