Novel Unsymmetrical Organosilicon(IV) Derivatives : Synthesis, Characterization, Antimicrobial And Antifertility Effects

Abstract: Under appropriate reaction conditions, unsymmetrical organosilicon dihalides with two different a I k\ I or aryl groups react with sodium salts of higher cyclic alcohols, viz: cyclopentanol (CyPH). cylohexanol (CyHxH), cyloheptanol (CyHpH) and cyclooctanol (CyOcH). The chloride replacement reaction of these compounds yields complexes of the type PhRSiCl(L) and PhRSi(L) 2 (where L = deprotonated anion of the cyclic alcohol). These novel compounds have been characterized on the basis of elemental anlaysis. IR. '… Show more

“…As our programme for the development of tetraazamacrocyclic complexes, we have recently reported [11][12][13][14][15] tin complexes of various macrocycles. Such studies have established [16] that [dicyclohexylcarbodiimide] (DCHC) and [4-dimethylaminopyridine] (DMAP) can act as good condensing reagents for the condensation of primary amine and dicarboxylic acid.…”

“…19 207 Pb NMR spectra of the organolead(IV) complexes exhibit sharp signals at δ − 2209 to 2249 ppm and supports the 6-coordinated state of the lead atom. 20 Thus on the basis of the above spectral factors, as well as on the analytical data and literature evidence, 15,21 -23 hexacoordinated octahedral geometry has been established for these complexes (Fig. 1).…”

“…The complexation is expected to reduce the polarity of the metal ion due to the partial sharing of its positive charge with donor groups. Furthermore, the metal ion‘s lipophilic nature increases, thereby presumably promoting its permeability through the lipid layer of the cell membrane [23,49,50] . Dissociation of 2 in solution was excluded due to its inherent stability, e. g. as shown by high resolution mass spectrometry (Figure S12).…”
