Nuclear Magnetic Resonance characterization of traditional homeopathically manufactured copper ( Cuprum metallicum ) and plant ( Gelsemium sempervirens ) medicines and controls

Abstract: There is clear evidence that homeopathic solutions cannot be considered as pure water as commonly assumed. Instead, we have evidenced a clear memory effect upon dilution/potentization of a substance (water, lactose, copper, gelsemium) reflected by different rotational correlation times and average H⋯H distances. A possible explanation for such a memory effect may lie in the formation of mesoscopic water structures around nanoparticles and/or nanobubbles mediated by zero-point fluctuations of the vacuum electro… Show more

“…6 Homeopathy has recently published work by van Wassenhoven et al, again using NMR. 7 Other methods including calorimetry, described by Elia et al, may also have the potential to distinguish between different homeopathic medicines at very high dilutions. 8,9 Several other methods may have the potential to distinguish between control (succussed) water and high dilutions of different homeopathic medicines.…”

“…These inferred potential variables were called factors [11,12]. Previous factor studies have covered commercial, e.g., [13,14]; sales, e.g., [15][16][17]; industry, e.g., [18][19][20]; and manufacturing, e.g., [21][22][23] applications amongst many others, and has been shown to effectively extract important factors that can then be employed for prediction using different methods.…”

“…Michel van Wassenhoven and colleagues, building on the work of Jean-Louis Demangeat and others, demonstrate that dilution and succussion processes can be measured through NMR spin-lattice T1 and spinespin T2 relaxation times for a metal-and a plant-derived homeopathic medicine. 14 In an important innovation, a new mathematical procedure which enables data to be plotted and statistical tests to be applied is introduced.…”
