“…The nuclear transit study (NTS) determines both the anatomic site of hold up as well as the rate of transit, from gastric emptying to excretion. Rapid-transit constipation (RTC) was first recognised in 2011 on retrospective analysis of NTS performed from 1998 to 2009, with 64/520 (12 %) of children identified with RTC [8]. RTC was defined as fast transit in the small intestine and proximal colon followed by retention in the anorectum.…”
