Abstract:More than a third of patients with eyelid melanoma required more than 1 excision to achieve clear margins, supporting delayed reconstruction for eyelid melanoma. Nodal metastasis at presentation was significantly correlated with AJCC T category and time to progression.
“…Mean age at diagnosis is 64 (median 65.9) . Only one case in a very elderly subject (96) has been reported . The woman described herein was 99, which is the second unusual feature of this report.…”

“…This is an original clinical case in view of the rarity of this tumor location. Eyelid melanoma is exceptional, accounting for less than 1% of eyelid malignancies and approximately 1% of all cutaneous melanomas . Mean age at diagnosis is 64 (median 65.9) .…”

“…Van Essen et al 3 in a study of 30 enucleation specimens of uveal melanoma report loss of BAP1 expression as a predictor of death from metastases. Yin et al 4 in a study of 64 patients with eyelid melanoma that almost 40% of patients required more than one surgical excision supporting the argument for delayed surgical reconstruction for eyelid melanoma.…”
