Numerical analysis of supercritical n-decane upward flow and heat transfer characteristics in the buffer layer of a vertical tube

Abstract: To explore the behavior and mechanisms of heat transfer deterioration (HTD), the flow and thermal performances of supercritical n-decane in upward vertical tubes are investigated with emphasis on the boundary layer. It is realized that the dramatic variation of the thermophysical properties can cause unconventional heat transfer phenomenon and the change of the density is important in particular. The intensity of the HTD gradually increases once the position of the pseudo-critical temperature lays in the buffe… Show more

“…Numerical research : Many studies were numerically implemented to study the thermal transport of supercritical fuel but the cracking reaction was not fully considered (Li et al , 2019c; Li et al , 2020; Cheng et al , 2018; Pu et al , 2019). Fortunately, the cracking reaction was considered in some openly published literature.…”

“…Recently, the scramjets have been extensively concerned by scholars in various countries (Zhu et al , 2019). However, a series of thermal protection problems caused by the supersonic combustion and aerodynamic heating are encountered in the research particularly for the combustor (Li et al , 2020; Pizzarelli et al , 2016). The active regenerative cooling technology with a hydrocarbon fuel is always used to cool the combustor wall (Xu et al , 2018; Tsujikawa and Northam, 1996; Gascoin et al , 2008).…”
