Abstract:This study presents a new numerical approach using tools developed to perform a molecular simulation to investigate the wall effect on aggregates and mortar distribution in concrete. Aggregates are represented by spheres interacting via a generalized truncated Lennard-Jones potential. This approach allows obtaining the particle profiles according to the reference frame of interest (e.g., the confined directions). Then the particle-based distributions are transformed into continuum profiles of volume fractions … Show more

scite is a Brooklyn-based organization that helps researchers better discover and understand research articles through Smart Citations–citations that display the context of the citation and describe whether the article provides supporting or contrasting evidence. scite is used by students and researchers from around the world and is funded in part by the National Science Foundation and the National Institute on Drug Abuse of the National Institutes of Health.
