A combined magnetic refrigeration system that consists of external rotating
magnetic field part of the rotary magnetic refrigerator and the flow path of
the reciprocating magnetic refrigeration part was presented in this work.
Experiments were carried out to investigate the influence of the structure
for heat exchanger and active regenerator port on the refrigeration
performance. With an operating frequency of 0.2 Hz and a magnetic field
varying from 0 to 1.3 T, a 22.2 K temperature span has been obtained when the
heat exchanger with inner threaded coil tube was applied in the cold end. On
the research of the hot end structure, the refrigeration temperature span of
the plate heat exchanger is 22.7 K, the temperature of the cold end with
fans is 6 Klower than that of the heat exchanger without fans. A 24.1 K
temperature span of the combined magnetic refrigeration system can be
obtained when the gradually varied port is used to the active magnetic
regenerator.
