“…The vibration response of glass structures is a relatively recent research topic. Most of the literature studies include experimental, analytical and numerical analyses voted to explore the dynamic behavior of single monolithic or LG members, with limited efforts for the performance assessment of complex assemblies, see for example [25][26][27][28][29][30].…”

“…Sci. 2019, 9, x FOR PEER REVIEW 4 of 26 dynamic behavior of single monolithic or LG members, with limited efforts for the performance assessment of complex assemblies, see for example [25][26][27][28][29][30]. As a general rule, glass slabs should be verified against vibrations under operational conditions in the same way of pedestrian structures composed of other constructional materials.…”

“…For such cases, a significant amount of studies were carried out by Bedon and Amadio [14][15][16] for the mitigation and enhancement of glass curtains under extreme loads based on the potential of special mechanical connectors inserted between the primary structure and exterior glazing facade. And also they investigated the behavior of a cable-supported glazing facade subjected to high-and medium-level air blast loads [17,18].…”

“…In [28,29], it was demonstrated that even ordinary glass curtain walls can be efficiently involved in the dynamic response of multi-storey buildings under seismic events, as well as multi-hazards in general. Based on special dissipative connectors, the feasibility of a "distributed-Tuned Mass Damper (TMD)" concept was numerically explored, giving evidence of certain potential benefits for both the primary building and also for the glass facade components.…”

“…Several efforts have been also spent in the past for the design and analysis of glass structures with bolted connections (see for example [17][18][19][20][21]), but only few research investigations are available for point-supported facades in earthquake-prone regions (i.e., [22,23]), with a focus on the intrinsic flexibility under in-plane seismic loads. The dissipation capacity of ordinary curtain walls under seismic events was partly assessed also in [24,25] with the support of experiments, while an efficient, dissipative timber-glass composite shear wall was proposed in [26,27] for earthquake resistant buildings. In [28,29], it was demonstrated that even ordinary glass curtain walls can be efficiently involved in the dynamic response of multi-storey buildings under seismic events, as well as multi-hazards in general. Based on special dissipative connectors, the feasibility of a "distributed-Tuned Mass Damper (TMD)" concept was numerically explored, giving evidence of certain potential benefits for both the primary building and also for the glass facade components.…”
