Numerical Investigations on the Mechanical Properties of Dry End Milling

Abstract: The stress and deformation of end mill in dry milling process have been simulated by using the FEM (Finite Element Method). Meanwhile, the influence of normal-rake-angle variation to strength and deformation of end mill has been analyzed by developing stress nephogram. The obtained results provide crucial foundation for study on optimal structural design, cutting property and tool life of end mill.
