A device with a frequency-modulated output signal has been developed to increase the sensitivity and accuracy of measuring moisture content in crude oil and petroleum products in the range of 0~20%. The main element of the device is a self-oscillator transducer based on a transistor structure with negative differential resistance. A capacitive sensor in the form of a capacitive cylindrical structure with cylindrical electrodes was used to determine moisture content in crude oil and petroleum products. Electric permittivity of a two-component mixture of oil and water was estimated and the capacitance of the humidity-sensitive capacitive cylindrical structure with cylindrical electrodes was calculated. An electrical diagram of the device for measuring and controlling the humidity of crude oil and petroleum products has been developed. The relative error of converting the humidity of oil and petroleum products into capacitance which was caused by the change in oil temperature, was determined to be 0.225%. Values of relative errors of the device for measuring the humidity of oil and petroleum products are as follows: 1.355 • 10 −5 % is caused by instability of the oscillator frequency, 0.01% is caused by fluctuations in the supply voltage of the self-oscillator transducer, 0.05% is caused by a change in ambient temperature by 1 • C. For the developed device, which used errors of the first and second type, the reliability of humidity control of oil and petroleum products has been determined to be 0.9591.

Developing and Investigating the Analyzers of Kinematic Viscosity and Density of Petroleum Products on Throttle Bridge Transducers

Measuring the viscosity and density of petroleum products is important for their proper production, transportation and application. Viscosity and density are the main parameters determining the composition and structure of petroleum products. Therefore, in the industry, to control the quality of petroleum products during various technological processes, automatic and non-automatic devices are used for their measurement. The accuracy of measuring the viscosity and density of petroleum products is an important factor. The authors analyzed different methods of measuring the viscosity and density of petroleum products and synthesized three versions of throttle bridge transducers. These versions implement differential measurement methods and have different numbers of laminar and turbulent throttles. The authors obtained new equations of static conversion functions by channels of measuring the kinematic viscosity and density of petroleum products of the proposed throttle bridge transducers. The authors developed a block diagram and designed measuring equipment to study experimentally the static characteristics of the throttle bridge transducers. The authors determined that the maximal relative deviations of the results of experimental studies from numerical calculations of a static conversion factor by channels of kinematic viscosity and density were 5.88% and 8.76%, respectively. The authors developed two versions of automatic devices for measuring the kinematic viscosity and density of petroleum products based on the proposed throttle bridge transducers. The first version is an automatic analyzer with tracking astatic balancing. The second version is an automatic analyzer with deployment balancing. The authors developed constructions of both versions of automatic analyzers and obtained the results of experimental measuring of the kinematic viscosity and density of petroleum products in different ranges.

Purpose. Investigation of a moisture frequency transducer based on a moisture-sensitive capacitive element of a cylindrical structure with mesh electrodes for a system for measuring the amount and parameters of crude oil. Methodology. When constructing a moisture-sensitive element, an oscillatory method for measuring humidity was applied to achieve high sensitivity and accuracy while maintaining a low cost of the device. A moisture sensitive capacitive sensor based on a cylindrical structure with mesh electrodes was introduced into the measuring generator system based on a transistor structure with a negative differential resistance. Findings. Analytical expressions are obtained to describe the dielectric constant of an inhomogeneous mixture of water and oil. Using these equations, the capacitance of a moisture-sensitive sensor with mesh electrodes is calculated as a dependence of the moisture content of crude oil. It was determined that the capacitance of the moisture sensitive sensor increased from 20 to 44 pF when the mass moisture of crude oil changed from 0 to 30%. The sensitivity of the developed capacitive sensor is 0.8 pF/% when using a measuring device in the form of a crude oil pipeline with a diameter of 50 millimeters. Originality. A mathematical model has been developed for the primary transducer of the moisture content of crude oil based on a cylindrical capacitor structure with net-like electrodes, which allows determining the value of the capacitance of the primary transducer of the moisture content of crude oil. A self-oscillator device for controlling the moisture content of crude oil has been developed on the basis of the structure of bipolar and field-effect transistors with a cylindrical capacitor structure with mesh electrodes. Practical value. Circuitry solutions for a moisture transducer for crude oil have been developed. The results of experimental studies showed that for the selected version of the moisture converter circuit, the output signal frequency decreased in the range from 1.617 to 1.27 MHz with a change in the mass moisture content of the Turkmen mixture from 0 to 30%, respectively, and is close to a linear dependence. The wide frequency range of the output signal of the secondary converter with the frequency output of the measured information increases the accuracy of moisture measurement in crude oil by an order of magnitude.
