Numerical modeling and verification of grouting with mold bag treatment on seepage failure in foundation excavation

Abstract: This article presents a numerical modeling and verification on a new grouting technique, called mold bag prestress reinforcing method, which was successfully used for grouting control on seepage failure during a foundation pit excavation project. A numerical model is established based on finite element method to simulate the prestrss reinforcing and grouting process. The displacement and stress field during grouting process are calculated. Based on the calculation results, the rationale of the pretress method … Show more

“…It was found that the maximum horizontal displacement of the top of the supporting pile reached 16 mm. Zheng et al [18] found that the radial stress decreases to 0 mm at distances greater than 1 m from the grouting point in their study on numerical modeling and verification of grouting with mold bag treatment on seepage failure in foundation excavation. From this finding, it can be concluded that the horizontal displacements at the two points Advances in Civil Engineering 3 m and 6 m from the edge of the foundation excavation are not caused by grouting because their distance to the grouting point is much greater than 1 m.…”

“…When the working face is exposed to fire, it is difficult to effectively control it in a short time, and the fire area can be closed for isolation and fire suppression [1]. A high-strength fireproof fiber flexible mold bag filled with inorganic curing material has the advantages of a high strength, good durability, and being flame retardant, and the inorganic curing material filled in the mold bag is mainly concrete [2][3][4]. Flexible film bags are widely used in roadway support [5,6], gob filling [7,8], fire control in roadways [9,10], and so on.…”
