Numerical Simulation of Coexisting Solid-liquid Slag Trickle Flow in a Coke Bed by the SPH Method with a Non-Newtonian Fluid Model

Abstract: A simulation of the dripping behavior of solid-phase suspended molten slag in a coke bed was performed using the Bingham fluid model in the framework of smoothed particle hydrodynamics (SPH). SPH can track the motion of droplets which are suspended in dispersed solids. A case study was performed in which the yield coefficient varied with the viscosity coefficient of the molten SiO 2 -CaO-Al 2 O 3 slag, with suspended solids approximated by the Bingham fluid model, and the holdup droplets were trapped at approx… Show more

“…When using a multisphere discrete-element method (MS-DEM) treatment, both the coke particles and the dispersed phase can be directly tracked in packed bed structures with different cokes morphology. [15][16][17] Moreover, the Eulerian-Lagrangian (E-L) coupling scheme, also known as the computational fluid dynamics-DEM (CFD-DEM) approach that enables the investigation of the interactions between gaseous and solid phases, has been used to solve the gas flow field in various coke bed structures. 18) Using the E-L coupling approach, the two-phase fines-gas flow in a coke bed can be directly determined in accordance with the coke degradation behavior, which is used as an input.…”

“…The increase in solid phase in the molten slag predicts an increase with viscosity. 23) Therefore, to further clarify the behavior of the slag temperature and viscosity during heat fluctuations, the amount of solids precipitated in the slag with different components and different heats was calculated by Fact-Sage thermodynamics software.…”
