Numerical simulation of the effects of building dimensional variation on wind pressure distribution

Abstract: Knowledge of wind effects is of great significance in structural, environmental, and architectural fields, where excessive relevance among wind pressure, building load, and natural ventilation has been formerly confirmed. Within the scope of high-rise buildings, functions of their layout, separation and height in altering wind pressure have been inquired on purpose, while a few investigations in relation to impacts of plane dimensions have been explored. This study consequently intends to ascertain wind pressu… Show more

“…In recent decades, rapid improvements in the computational power have made computational fluid dynamics be a useful tool for real-life case studies (Akbarian et al, 2018;Ardabili et al, 2018;Mou, He, Zhao, & Chau, 2017). Due to the complex structure of the pump, it is difficult to observe the flow field inside the pump experimentally.…”

“…The average LLJ velocity distribution was obtained by superimposing the velocity profile of the free jet and the wind shear. The power-law profile was used to describe the change of wind speed with height in wind shear condition (Mou, He, Zhao, & Chau, 2017). The expression of the average LLJ velocity profile is given as follows:…”

“…The use of numerical techniques such as computational fluid dynamics (CFD) is prevalent in several engineering applications (Mou, He, Zhao, & Chau, 2017;Akbarian et al, 2018;Chitrakar, Dahlhaug, & Neopane, 2018;Ramezanizadeh, Nazari, Ahmadi, & Chau, 2019;Ghalandari, Koohshahi, Mohamadian, Shannshirband, & Chau, 2019). In this study, based on CFD, we established coupling calculation models of the main flow, partition clearance on the wheel cover and disk side, and seal structure.…”
