Numerical simulation of welding deformation and residual stress in aluminum alloy plate-to-sleeve welded joints

Abstract: The plate-to-sleeve welded joint is employed in the aluminum alloy spatial structure. The welding deformation and residual stress determine the dimensional accuracy and even increase the failure risk. Based on ABAQUS software and the coordinate transformation method, a finite element model with the arc weaving was developed to investigate the temperature field, welding deformation, and residual stress of an AA6061-T6 plate-to-sleeve welded joint with 8-pass. The metal inert gas welding experiment was performed… Show more

“…They utilized a threedimensional conical Gaussian heat source model, as well as X-ray and Neutron diffraction for the RS measurements. Zhao et al [15] estimated the RS and distortions of an AA6061-T6 multi-pass welded plate-to-sleeve structure via a thermo-mechanical model. The double ellipsoid model was utilized as the heat source model and XRD for the RS measurements.…”

“…Many researchers have carried out detailed numerical simulation on the laser-MIG composite welding of aluminum alloy [11][12][13][14][15], but in the process of 6 mm thick 7075 aluminum alloy laser-MIG composite welding, the in uence of welding process parameters on the temperature eld and stress eld is basically not studied [16][17][18][19]. The in uence of welding process parameters on temperature eld and stress eld is studied by numerical simulation [20][21][22][23][24].…”
