Numerical simulation on oil rim impact on underground gas storage injection and production

Abstract: A large number of underground gas storage operating experience shows: the oil rim has a great impact on gas injection and production. Here, the underground gas storage in the Dagang Oilfield (G393) was taken as an example to study the oil rim impact mechanism. Firstly, the G393 gas reservoir developmental history was simulated, based thereon, the equations governing the distribution of gas, oil, and water in the reservoir before building the storage injection and production equipment was established. Then, the… Show more

“…The average value is recorded as Q 0 . Finally, under the guarantee of sufficient row spacing, simulating the production by different wells spacing, and then under the guarantee of enough wells spacing, simulating the production by different rows spacing, obtained the accumulated gas production of different simulated wells, recorded as Q i , the degree of interference of gas production of a single well can be characterized by the following mathematical formula (Wang et al 2015):…”

“…[23][24][25] The evaluation objective of underground gas storage is the trap and its basic conditions, such as scale, seal capacity, storage, and operating conditions, which are used to optimize the goal of building good gas storage. [26][27][28][29] Among them, the evaluation of the seal capacity of the trap, evaluation of reservoir changes, and the calculation of effective pore volume, which is the primary research focus (gas-bearing sand bodies and, waterbearing sand bodies). 5,30,31 The systematic evaluation of the parameters of underground gas storage is a higherlevel evaluation work which depends on the increase of a large number of new data (static and dynamic data) and more detailed research.…”

“…5,30,31 The systematic evaluation of the parameters of underground gas storage is a higherlevel evaluation work which depends on the increase of a large number of new data (static and dynamic data) and more detailed research. 27,28,[32][33][34][35] Currently, most of the basic geological research in this field follows the conventional gas reservoir geology theory without a selfcontained system, and relatively few domestic and foreign-related documents have been published. However, currently, the main research focus is the 'reconstruction' of the geological body, which aims to clarify the differences between the geological research process of gas storage and that of gas reservoirs in order to provide a good theoretical basis for future processes, such as construction, expansion, and operation.…”
