Numerical Simulations of the Exploitation Parameters of the Rotary Feeder

Abstract: The article presents the problems of determining the mass efficiency of a rotary feeder depending on the selection of design parameters of the device, such as outer diameter, number of blades and rotational speed of the rotor. The hitherto theoretical methods of calculating the feeder efficiency were presented, as well as a new method of determining the device operation parameters was proposed. For this purpose, the numerical Discrete Element Method was used, which allowed simulating the transport of limestone… Show more

“…The proposed scale-up model built based on Equations ( 6)-( 9) is essential for improving stirred mill operational parameters and design. When the scale-up model allows for the accurate prediction of the operating parameters, it is possible to reduce the cost of the re-design of the full scale (industrial mill), and all the necessary improvements can be made on the laboratory prototype or during numerical modeling [62][63][64]. This reduces the time and cost of experiments for adjusting optimal operational parameters for grinding different materials.…”

“…The concept of the rotarybased feeding system draws inspiration from the widely used rotary airlock feeder model, which functions as a sluice gate. The incorporation of a rotary mechanism allows for a steady and continuous flow of material 18) . By minimizing disturbances during the material feed, this system could potentially enhance the effectiveness of the separation process.…”
