“…The current solution to avoiding failures due to flow-induced vibration in steam generators is to adopt a conservative approach array pitch (m) P  pressure at angle  (Pa) ¡angle of axially tapped instrumented cylinder ²reference angle on circumferentially tapped instrumented cylinder the intermittent switching of a jet of fluid in the wake of two or more cylinders positioned normal to the flow. It has been observed both experimentally and in computer simulations consisting of two cylinders side by side, single and double rows of tubes (Guillaume and LaRue, 1999;Zdravkovich and Stonebanks, 1990;Kim and Durbin, 1988;Mahbub Alam et al, 2003;Bearman and Wadcock, 1973) and in tube array bundles (Anagnostopoulos and Seitanis, 2012;Afgan et al, 2011;Olinto et al, 2006;de Paula and Möller, 2012;Khalifa et al, 2013). It has been found that arrays that are prone to bi-stable flow do not have a stable limit cycle amplitude at instability as observed by Mahon andMeskell (2009a, 2012).…”

“…They observed variations in physical parameters for different values of g. An empirical relation for average mean drag coefficient and average Strouhal number was also given for both aspect ratios and the values of average C dmean and average St approaches to single isolated rectangular cylinder for increasing g [20,21]. Anagnostopouls and Seitanis [22] numerically studied cross-flow past two staggered rows of cylinders at Re = 200, where the upstream row contains three and downstream row contains four cylinders using the finite element method at g = 0-1. They observed that the drag force exerted on the upstream row is higher than downstream row of cylinders and the wake switched behind the cylinders at downstream row.…”

“…A numerical examination of cross flow past two staggered row of circular cylinders at Re = 200, transverse spacing value 3 and varying streamwise gap spacing's from 0 to 1, was performed by Anagnostopoulos and Seitanis [18]. They obtained that stream wise gap spacing's greatly affect the flow regimes and hydrodynamic characteristics of the flow.…”
