Abstract:Maritime traffic has increased considerably in recent years, making energy efficiency and navigation safety of ships more crucial than ever. Hence, a two-time scale model based on the Taylor expansion boundary element method (TEBEM) is proposed to predict ship turning trajectories in regular waves. The maneuvering motion is calculated using a three degrees of freedom MMG model that considers the wave drift loads. TEBEM overcomes the shortcomings of the constant panel method in solving tangential induced veloci… Show more
scite is a Brooklyn-based organization that helps researchers better discover and understand research articles through Smart Citations–citations that display the context of the citation and describe whether the article provides supporting or contrasting evidence. scite is used by students and researchers from around the world and is funded in part by the National Science Foundation and the National Institute on Drug Abuse of the National Institutes of Health.
