“…Scholarly writing has been defined by Hunker, Gazza, and Shellenbarger (2014) as writing that is specialised in nursing, communicates original thought, includes support from a body of literature, contains formal language consistent with the discipline of nursing and is formatted in a manner consistent with peer-reviewed publications (p 341). Much has been written about the scholarly writing capacity of novice DNP students and teaching methods to address writing development (Carter-Templeton, 2015;Dowling, Savrin, & Graham, 2013;Redman, Pressler, Furspan, & Potempa, 2015;Shellenbarger, Hunker, & Gazza, 2015;Shirey, 2013;). Our experiences are consistent with these findings, and in 2010, a revision to the DNP curriculum was undertaken to strengthen content related to scholarly communication and writing.…”
