Abstract

Currently, consumer, public, technical, research, innovation, and education digital and print media are permeated with some mention of information technology. Whether it be self-driving cars, 5G, social media, simulation, robotics, virtual reality, big data analytics, cyber security, artificial intelligence, precision medicine, or telehealth, there seems to be yet another new disruptive technology on the horizon. People may express thoughts and feelings that life is accelerating as a result of this. Data seem to support these thoughts and feelings, as advances in many areas of technology are doubling every 1 to 2 years, in contrast to other sectors of society.
