“…Our study indicates that C. album foliage is high in proteins, which supports earlier reports of 3.0 to 4.7 g/kg (PRAKASH et al 1993). The protein content in C. album is considerably higher than that reported in the foliage of other crops such as Lactuca sativa (0.7-1.1%) (WATSON 1971), Euphorbia hirta (3.42%) (WALLACE et al 1998) and vegetable amaranth (2.51%) (SHUKLA et al 2003) but lower than that reported for cassava (7.1-8.2%) (WATSON 1971).
