Nutritional deficiency symptoms of young ‘cedro doce’ plants grown under macronutrient omission

Abstract: ‘Cedro doce’ [Pochota fendleri (Seem) Alverson & Duarte] is a native forest species in Amazon with great ecological and economic importance. Understanding nutritional requirements of the species allows cultivating Pochota fendleri with more efficient fertilization practices since its initial growth, as a seedling. Thus, this research aimed to evaluate the symptoms of nutritional deficiency of young ‘cedro doce’ plants. The experiment was carried out from September to December 2016, under greenhouse conditi… Show more

“…Oppositely, the increase in plant growth by relatively high levels of nitrogen may be attributed to the beneficial effects of N on stimulating the meristematic activity, for producing more tissues and organs, and cell enlargement, since N plays major roles in the synthesis of structural proteins and other several macro-molecules, in addition to its vital contribution in several biochemical processes in the plant related to growth. P also plays a role in plant structure and is directly involved with energy transfer and storage (Aquino et al, 2019). Thus, P omission limits plant growth, reducing energy production and transport (Araújo et al, 2016).…”

“…This shows that P is actively linked to the metabolism of various molecules, such as starch, fats, and proteins. P also plays a role in plant structure and is directly involved with energy transfer and storage (Aquino et al, 2019). Thus, P omission limits plant growth, reducing energy production and transport (Araújo et al, 2016).…”
