Abstract:At ROGESA blast furnaces a mixture of pulverized coal and synthetic titanium dioxide is injected simultaneously in order to protect the hearth from premature erosion. Sachtleben has developed, in the form of RUTILIT, a fine-particle synthetic source of titanium dioxide which can be systematically injected into the zone of damage in the blast furnace hearth via the tuyeres.
