This is a cross-sectional study that aimed to describe the psychiatric demand in a university hospital in the city of Cuiabá, state of Mato Grosso, Brazil, and to know the current situation of the service to this demand. The data were collected from the inpatient medical records in a university hospital, from June to August, 2009, in a total of 551 records. Despite being considered by the literature as unprepared, nursing is the professional category that most identifies the psychiatric demand in this hospital. The treatment plan to this demand was restricted to medication, nine evaluations of psychology and thirteen consultation-liaison psychiatric service, without a significant involvement of nursing. The approach of emotional and/or mental aspects results in the improvement in the quality of nursing care, and there is a need for the nurses to qualify for that. To make it happen, we propose a reflection on the need for the consultation-liaison psychiatric service in this hospital.

A formação acadêmica tem como finalidade a preparação para a atuação prática. O intuito principal é de que todos os alunos possam chegar, à prática, preparados para a atuação sem que apresentem inseguranças, porém, a ansiedade tende a aumentar decorrente do que a própria situação exige. É um momento em que os acadêmicos assumirão uma postura profissional, nesta ocasião há o processo de construção da identidade profissional e do amadurecimento pessoal e profissional. Diante de tantos estressores, o estagiário terá que desenvolver estratégias de enfrentamento que sejam saudáveis para um melhor aproveitamento do estágio. Além da interlocução da teoria com a prática, há também as inter-relações que o estagiário enfrentará durante esse percurso. Decorrente disso, para o seu crescimento pessoal e profissional é importante que ele tenha um ambiente acolhedor e propício. Este ambiente deverá ser proporcionado tanto pelo espaço físico quanto pelos profissionais que estão a sua volta.

A critical review of the literature on the uses and meanings of the expression psychosocial in Brazilian journals opens this text. It will discuss how the Brazilian notion of "psychosocial mode" to organize mental health care, framed within the health reform movements in the 1980s, contributed to the formation of a fi eld of studies and innovative practices, developed mostly in the context of the Brazilian response to AIDS. Its human rights perspective is unknown in its details as well as its constructionist approach to health psychology defi ned as psychosocial rather than socio-psychological, distinguished also by a psychosocial approach at the various levels and territories of prevention and care practices. The techniques and work processes derived from a unique Brazilian vulnerability and human rights approach (V&HR) value the programmatic mediation of the inextricably linked social and individual vulnerability and, therefore, actions for mitigation of rights violations. Strongly inspired by hermeneutics and the social sciences constructivism, this approach to constructionist social psychology prioritize the comprehension of "inter-subjectivity in scene", understood as intrinsically related to socio-cultural scenarios -approached in programmatic encounters at health services through personal trajectory and everyday life scenes. The notion of person, taken as a subject of discourses and holder of rights, contrasts with the notion of a biological-behavioral individual of the health psychology tradition that remained active in other paradigms of health-disease processes. This article will provide references for a critical refl ection on the historical and scholarly production in the fi eld of AIDS included in this supplement.Keywords: Social Psychology, human rights, vulnerability, constructionism, health promotion.
