Object detection in images using morphlet descriptions

Abstract: An original method for object detection based on morphlet trees is proposed in the paper. It allows the robust detection of heterogeneous objects in images to be done without pre-training. Besides, the detection process simultaneously includes a preliminary segmentation, which can be later used for recognition. Also, there is another important characteristic: the proposed approach does not require the use of sliding windows and feature pyramids to detect different-scale objects.

“…While the porosity of a thin film of SiNWs can be calculated from its optical density [6], it gives only the average porosity and it can be only applied for films with low light scattering. Different methods can be used for image processing [26][27][28]. In our work the porosity of the top of SiNW layer was estimated from an analysis of the corresponding top view SEM images.…”

“…There are many commonly used algorithms for image binarization [1] employed for various applications: digital documents compression [2], intelligent document recognition [3], medical image analysis [4], object detection [5,6], digital image enhancement [7], porosity determination via computed tomography [8], forensic ballistics [9]. The diversification of methods is associated with the fact that the algorithm allowing for the equally high accuracy in all image processing tasks has not been developed yet.…”

“…Global symptoms determination approach based on fuzzy logic designed to fix this problem. Such an approach in conjunction with image processing algorithms that allows to search objects on images [8,9] or correct images [10] obtained for example from unmanned aerial vehicles could be the basis of a system for automatically determining the forest plantations health state.…”
