“…While for the lower GIS endoscopy procedure the consistency of Group I was 79%, the Group II exhibited a consistency of 80% and therefore the difference wasn't significant (P=0.709). The results of comparison were consistent with the literature ratios of 68-80% [1,[13][14][15]. The inconsistency exhibited by Group II in the upper GIS endoscopic findings results from differences of diagnosing the benign lesions from stomach mucosa because while gastritis was diagnosed in 74% of the patients as endoscopic finding, 83% gastritis was determined as a result of biopsy.…”

“…6,7 This is increased in situations where the interventions are deemed difficult. 8 There is also good evidence to support the hypothesis that technical skills training is facilitated by the use of a graduated training program employing airway devices and patient simulations; better outcomes are achieved when those skills are subsequently applied to patient care. Trainees who undergo such graduated skill training experience higher rates of success than those trained in a more traditional (see one, do one) fashion.…”

“…It would therefore appear that linking the evaluation of competence to having carried out a specific number of explorations is not an adequate system. This was demonstrated by Cass et al, who designed an evaluation system with key points which should be learned in order to carry out a colonoscopy, which included, for example correct identification of any anomalies found in the exploration (Cass et al, 1993). Adequate competence in these variables was not reached with the minimum number of colonoscopies recommended by the experts (Cass et al, 1996).…”
