Observation of a Charged Charmoniumlike Structure ine+eπ+πJ/ψ

Abstract: We study the process e + e − → π + π − J/ψ at a center-of-mass energy of 4.260 GeV using a 525 pb −1 data sample collected with the BESIII detector operating at the Beijing Electron Positron Collider. The Born cross section is measured to be (62.9 ± 1.9 ± 3.7) pb, consistent with the production of the Y (4260). We observe a structure at around 3.9 GeV/c 2 in the π ± J/ψ mass spectrum, which we refer to as the Zc(3900). If interpreted as a new particle, it is unusual in that it carries an electric charge and co… Show more

“…31. BESIII named this structure as the Z c (3885) since its measured mass (see Table 8) was slightly lower than that of the Z c (3900) measured in the J/ψπ channel by BESIII [64] and Belle [124]. However, the measured mass and width of the Z c (3885) [159] were consistent with those of the Z c (3900) state obtained by Xiao et al [61].…”

“…This upper limit was lower than the production cross section of Z c (3900) ± → π ± J/ψ obtained in Ref. [64], which is about 14 pb.…”
