Observation ofB0D¯0K+Kand Evidence for

Abstract: The first observation of the decay B 0 ! "reported from an analysis of 0:62 fb À1 of pp collision data collected with the LHCb detector. Its branching fraction is measured relative to that of the topologically similar decay B 0 ! "

“…The mode B 0 s →D 0 ϕ has been previously observed by the LHCb Collaboration with a data sample corresponding to an integrated luminosity of 1.0 fb −1 [17]. The observation of B 0 →D 0 K þ K − and evidence for B 0 s →D 0 K þ K − have also been reported by the LHCb Collaboration using a data sample corresponding to 0.62 fb −1 [18]. These decays are mediated by decay processes such as those shown in Fig.…”

“…All other selection criteria were tuned on the B 0 ! D ÃÇ AE control channel in a similar manner to that used in another recent LHCb publication [12]. The large yield in the normalization sample allows the selection to be based on data, though the efficiencies are determined using Monte Carlo simulated events in which pp collisions are generated using PYTHIA 6.4 [13] with a specific LHCb configuration [14].…”

“…Hence, possibilities to determine γ in B 0 s → DK + K − and Λ 0 b → DpK − decays can also be considered. Both of these modes have been observed in LHCb data [33][34][35], but with modest yields. Moreover, a full analysis of B 0 s → DK + K − decays requires tagging of the initial B meson flavour, which leads to a reduction of sensitivity.…”
