Abstract:Uniaxial compression tests of Mg 54 Y 11 Ag 7 Cu 28 metallic glass were performed in the supercooled liquid region (SCLR) (468 K) at a strain rate range of 5 9 10 -4 to 2 9 10 -3 s -1 . In the course of testing, shear thickening behavior was observed, where the magnitude of the peak stress increases with increasing initial strain rate. The deformation behavior of the glassy metal is discussed with emphasis on the commonly reported stress overshoot, strain softening behavior, and the previously unreported shear… Show more

scite is a Brooklyn-based organization that helps researchers better discover and understand research articles through Smart Citations–citations that display the context of the citation and describe whether the article provides supporting or contrasting evidence. scite is used by students and researchers from around the world and is funded in part by the National Science Foundation and the National Institute on Drug Abuse of the National Institutes of Health.
