Observation of the seismoelectric effect in a gas condensate field in the Earth’s natural electromagnetic and seismic noise of 0.1–20 Hz

Abstract: The first experimental measurements of the cross-correlation function (CCF) of the Earth’s seismic and electrical noise were carried out in two areas of the Minusinskoe gas condensate field in 2014 and 2015 using a VPEMPZ-M1 (Shum-6) two-channel geophysical device developed at Siberian Federal University. The Earth’s seismic noise and electrical noise in the frequency range 0.1–20 Hz were received by a geophone and an electric dipole, respectively. In both cases, a productive pool at depths of 1800–2000 m had … Show more

“…As shown in Table 2 , obtained in 2019–2020, the experimental data confirmed the results of the measurements in 2014–2018 [ 27 , 28 , 44 , 45 , 46 , 47 ]. Figure 9 b also shows a curve obtained by solving Equations (1)–(8), according to which the values of the electric field strength E will correspond to the magnitude of the observed SE effect on the day surface.…”

“…Earlier [ 27 , 28 , 46 , 47 ], we have shown, both theoretically and empirically, that the SE effect of the second kind is most pronounced at the edges of the field. This is due to the distribution function of the electric charges along the boundaries of the field, which cause an EM field when exposed to microseismic disturbances.…”

“…This will make it possible to reduce the negative acoustic effect on the environment when working in water areas and transition zone. Along with passive hydrocarbon search methods, similar studies have been actively conducted around the world in the last decade [6][7][8][9].…”
