OC149: Interobserver and intraobserver variability in ultrasound measurement of lower uterine segment after a previous cesarean section

Abstract

Oral communication abstractsprocedures. Evaluation of the device was done by means of a detailed questionnaire. Results: The procedures were completed successfully without any complications. A careful notation of the time involved for the different components of the surgical procedures was kept. 100% of the operators felt that the technique was helpful and 72% felt that it increased safety. In 100% of the cases the instrumentation of the endocervical canal as well as the uterine cavity were fully visualized and 82% of the operators felt that they could more accurately detect the end-point of the procedure. In 8% of the cases the operators felt that the device interfered with the performance of the procedure. Conclusions: Real time endovaginal sonographic guidance of intrauterine procedures can be achieved using this new ultrasoundcoupling device. This system provided high-resolution images of the instrumented endocervical canal and the uterine cavity during all stages and provided improved indication of the procedure's end-point. The increased safety and accuracy reported by most users was encouraging. This technique appears to provide a better alternative to Transabdominal ultrasonographic guidance for intrauterine surgical procedures.
