“…As far as we know, to date, only one study has evaluated genomic instability, cell death and proliferative index in exfoliated buccal cells of anaesthesiologists who had chronic exposure and those of non-anaesthesiologist physicians who were not exposed to anaesthetics (21). The authors concluded that exposure to modern waste anaesthetic gases did not induce systemic DNA damage, but it did result in genomic instability, cytotoxicity and proliferative changes, which were detected in exfoliated buccal cells of anaesthesiologists.…”
