“…No Atlântico Oeste, essa espécie está distribuída desde Massachusetts (EUA) até o sul da Argentina, incluindo o Golfo do México e o Mar do Caribe (Robins et al, 1986); ocorrendo em baías, estuários (Strelcheck et al, 2004) e em mar aberto, onde pode estar associada a objetos flutuantes (Myers, 1999). Esta espécie foi descrita também no mar Adriático (Dulčić et al, 2014a,b), no mar de Omã (Jawad et al, 2015), no Mediterrâneo (Bilge et al, 2017;De Carlo et al, 2017), nas águas profundas da Tunísia (Shaiek et al, 2018) e no litoral da costa sul do Brasil (Rotundo et al, 2019).…”

“…Os estudos relacionados à biologia reprodutiva da prejereba são escassos noAtlântico Sul e não há trabalhos caracterizando a fisiologia reprodutiva dessa espécie, o que limita o seu potencial uso na aquicultura ou a conservação desta espécie. Segundo o FISHBASE (2019) não há informações sobre maturidade e outras variáveis reprodutivas desta espécie, sendo que a maioria dos estudos datam do século passado, sendo os mais recentes limitados aos registros de captura(Bilge et al, 2017;De Carlo et al, 2017;Shaiek et al, 2018;Rotundo et al, 2019). As hipófises foram coletadas e acondicionadas em criotubos contendo 500 µl de Trizol, que foram inicialmente congeladas em nitrogênio líquido e posteriormente armazenadas em ultrafreezer -80 0 C no LAMEROA/IB-USP.…”
