Abstract: Fungi constitute a heterogeneous group of microorganisms with diverse ecological activity. Many fungi are useful to mankind, while others are quite harmful. Besides being spoilage organisms, some genera of fungi are toxigenic and produce dangerous secondary metabolites called mycotoxins.
