“…This result correlates with the low genetic variability observed in the Spanish host [3], and it would be in agreement with the hypothesis that GaRV6 could have evolved with its fungal host, which is likely enhanced by the fact that only asexual reproduction has been reported in the Spanish population of the host so far [4,32]. No population data about UvRV4, A1RV1, CthRV, FgV4, and RsRV1 have been reported; , Table S2), 54 % with Rosellinia necatrix victorivirus 1 over 800 nt (U2 , Table S3) and, 55 % with an unknown RNA-dependent RNA polymerase over 328 nt (U3 , Table S4); Mi, dsRNA corresponding to Gremmeniella mitovirus 1 strain 50 (GMV1-50) [6]; GaRV6, dsRNA band corresponding to GaRV6; P, dsRNA corresponding to Gremmeniella abietina RNA virus MS1 strain 35 (GaRV-MS1-35) [7]. “…For the purpose of describing G. abietina RNA mitovirus 1 [6], we found clones of this possible novel virus. Double-stranded RNA (dsRNA) was purified following the CF11 cellulose affinity [35].…”

“…All isolates were selected based on previous studies developed in our laboratory in which RT-PCR and sequencing techniques confirmed the presence or absence of mitoviruses (Botella et al, 2012a(Botella et al, , 2012b. The isolates were previously stored in 15% glycerol at -80º C and were reactivated on modified orange serum agar medium (MOS-agar;Müller et al, 1994) before performing the experiment.…”
