Occurrence of Ureaplasma diversum in cows with various reproductive disorders

Abstract: e158 14th International Congress on Infectious Diseases (ICID) AbstractsResults: Of the 94 dogs analyzed, 51 were male and 43 females. The mean age for both males and females was 3.6 years (range 4 months -15 years).Serological and parasitological tests revealed that 12 dogs (12.8%) were trypanosome infected (Table 1). Nine dogs (9.6%) had antibodies against T. cruzi. Trypanosomes were isolated in three (5.3%) hemoculture samples. Molecular analysis showed that isolated trypanosomes were T. rangeli. None of th… Show more

“…In some studies, exposure to Mycoplasma species occurred before negative reproductive outcomes could have occurred following insemination or intrauterine inoculation with Mycoplasma-contaminated semen (Hartman et al, 1964;Hirth et al, 1966;Saed and Al-Aubaidi, 1983). In other studies, Mycoplasma species were detected after negative reproductive outcomes had occurred (Panangala et al, 1978;Chander et al, 2001;Petit et al, 2008;Catania et al, 2014). In these latter studies, the temporal sequence is unclear, and it is possible that colonization with Mycoplasma species occurred after negative reproductive outcomes had occurred.…”

“…In seasonally calving pasturebased dairy herds, bulls are commonly used for natural matings for at least part of the breeding period. While some studies have demonstrated associations between the presence of various Mycoplasma species in the cow's reproductive tract and reproductive disorders (Doig, 1981;Chander et al, 2001), no such associations were detected in other studies (Erno and Philipsen, 1969;Hirth et al, 1970;Langford, 1975) and the reproductive consequences of Mycoplasma spp. infection in dairy cows are poorly defined (Nicholas et al, 2008).…”
