Abstract:Necrotizing fasciitis is characterized as a subset of aggressive infections of the skin and soft tissues that cause necrosis of the muscular fascia and subcutaneous tissues. It has a polymicrobial origin and presents an extensive necrosis that exhibits gas formation in the subcutaneous tissue and superficial fascia.
