Abstract:The intricate dynamics of volatile organic compounds (VOCs) in the human respiratory system remain poorly understood. In the present study, we integrate odor sensory tests (OSTs) coupled with computational fluid dynamics and a physiologically based pharmacokinetic (CFD-PBPK) model to elucidate various aspects of the olfaction process. Safe yogurt-derived substances were incorporated in OSTs to prevent harmful exposure. Acetaldehyde was identified as a key active component in determining odor intensity, prompti… Show more

scite is a Brooklyn-based organization that helps researchers better discover and understand research articles through Smart Citations–citations that display the context of the citation and describe whether the article provides supporting or contrasting evidence. scite is used by students and researchers from around the world and is funded in part by the National Science Foundation and the National Institute on Drug Abuse of the National Institutes of Health.
