Off‐Axis and Multi Optical Bottles from the Ring Airy Gaussian Vortex Beam with the Astigmatic Phase

Abstract: A new type of off‐axis and multi optical bottle (OB) from an astigmatic‐phase ring Airy Gaussian vortex beam (APRAGVB) propagating in free space is derived numerically. By choosing appropriate parameters, different sizes and amounts of OBs can be obtained. More importantly, when the APRAGVB has the multi optical vortices at different locations, one can generate off‐axis, multi, and complex OBs. It is believed that the results can diversify optical tweezers applications for multi microparticle manipulation.

“…A more complex modification provides segmentation and complication of the beam structure [4,15,56,57], as well as rotation of a structured beam at propagation [58][59][60]. Another useful property of autofocusing beams is the possibility of forming optical bottles with complex shapes on their basis [61][62][63].…”

“…During propagation, the CAB can initially keep a low-intensity distribution, then abruptly converge to a focal point where the intensity is suddenly enhanced by orders of magnitude [25][26][27][28][29]. In recent years, vortex phase modulation has allowed for the extension of the CABs from single vortex CABs to double or multiple vortex CABs [30][31][32][33][34]. Therefore, combining the CAB and the segmented vortex phase is of great interest to facilitate more flexible control of the auto-focusing characteristics and local vortex of the beam.…”

“…[11,12] Recently, some new types of the auto-focusing beam have been reported [13,14] and a kind of novel property of the Airy-like beam has been investigated. [15,16] So far, researchers have diffusely studied the paraxial propagation of Airy beams in media with external potentials, [17][18][19] inhomogeneous medium, [20][21][22][23][24] linear medium, [4,5] nonlinear medium [25,26] and apertured optical system. [27] Researches on the propagation of laser beams in uniaxial crystals have important effects on the design of compensators, polarizers, amplitude and phase modulation devices.…”
