This research, which aims to get the opinions of preschool education teachers about recognizing and evaluating children with play, was carried out using a qualitative method. A semistructured interview form developed by the researchers was used as the data collection tool. Within the scope of the research, 45 pre-school teachers working in public schools in Burdur province were consulted. The data were analyzed by content analysis method. According to the findings of the research, playing activities for preschool teachers and knowing and guiding the student are important in terms of planning education and communicating with the student. Teachers generally prefer observation, communication with the family, and play among the methods of recognizing and evaluating students. Play is seen as the child's world, his main job, a means of learning and exploration. Teachers mostly prefer playing as a means of education and getting to know the child. According to the teachers, students experience more positive emotions such as happiness, joy, excitement, and relaxation during the playing and negative emotions such as loss, anger, and fear. While children have more problems in playing activities such as sharing, leadership, role distribution, they solve these problems by talking or contacting the teacher. Children mostly play the roles of family members in their playing activities. Preferred plays, toys, and roles in children differ according to gender. Teachers have acquired important information that can affect the development of the child through play. The results are expected to shed light on researchers.
