Abstract: Poorly controlled hypertension has been shown to be an independent risk factor for cardiovascular disease, stroke, renal failure, and increased mortality. Angiotensin II receptor blockers (ARBs) are one of five classes of drugs for the treatment of hypertension that have proven their effectiveness, safety, and have additional organoprotective effects.
