On a ℤ2n-Graded Version of Supersymmetry

Abstract: We extend the notion of super-Minkowski space-time to include Z n 2 -graded (Majorana) spinor coordinates. Our choice of the grading leads to spinor coordinates that are nilpotent but commute amongst themselves. The mathematical framework we employ is the recently developed category of Z n 2 -manifolds understood as locally ringed spaces. The formalism we present resembles N -extended superspace (in the presence of central charges), but with some subtle differences due to the exotic nature of the grading emplo… Show more

“…The present work is motivated by the recently introduced Z 2 × Z 2 -graded analogue of supersymmetric and superconformal quantum mechanics [8][9][10][11]. It consists of models of one particle quantum mechanics on a real line whose symmetries are described by Z 2 × Z 2 -graded Lie superalgebras.…”

“…For a better understanding of the results in [8][9][10][11], one may pose the following question: is it possible to recover and extend these given models by quantizing some classical system? This question relies on a more essential one, namely, are there examples of classical systems invariant under the Z 2 ×Z 2 -graded supersymmetric transformations?…”

“…For instance, using equations (14), it is possible to write down Serre relations [30] satisfied by the Chevalley generatorsẼ i,i+1 andẼ i+1,i of gl(m 1 , m 2 |n 1 , n 2 ). In some cases, the relative signs of the coefficients in the relations may change as a result of equations (12) and (13), which is particularly evident in the cases where one of the labels m 1 , m 2 , n 1 or n 2 is zero. Such a presentation would allow, for example, one to develop the quantum analogue and express the relations of the associated quantum group along the lines of [31][32][33].…”
