On dynamics of elliptic solitons in lossy optical fibers

Abstract: By exploiting the theory of electromagnetic waves from the Maxwell’s equations, the damped nonlinear Schrödinger equation is shown to govern the evolution of nonlinear periodic optical signals in a lossy optical fiber.
