Extensive cooling experiments have been carried out on aqueous solutions to determine the relationship between cooling rate and crystallization temperature, as well as other factors which control the maximum supersaturation (Nyvlt, 1968(Nyvlt, , 1983Kubota, Karasawa & Kawakami, 1978;Kubota, Fujisawa & Tadaki, 1988). Such experiments have considerable implications to natural fluids although as far as we are aware these have not been referred to in the geological literature.…”
