“…The solution permits the verification of system requirements through simulation by augmenting dynamic models defined with the Modelica language [14] with models that check requirements during simulation based on the FOrmal Requirements Modeling Language (FORM-L) [15]. The novelty of this paper is an integrated process of RE resulting from the integration and extension of the research results achieved within ITEA3 MODRIO (Model Driven Physical Systems Operation) (see, e.g., [16][17][18][19]), a European project that aimed at extending state-of-the-art modeling and simulation environments based on open standards to increase energy and transportation systems safety, dependability and performance throughout their lifecycle [10]. It is worth noting that the usefulness and interest in the presented results are shown by the use of its preliminary versions.…”

“…System simulation using models is widely used for analysis, validation and verification. For the design of the physical behaviour, state-of-the-art tools and languages such as MATLAB Simulink or Modelica [36][37][38][39] can be used. Garro et al in [37] define an approach that maps the FORM-L CPS models to Modelica in order to check the consistency of the requirements among themselves.…”

“…Specifically, after having introduced several theoretical concepts to formally describe dependable requirements, the development of a dedicated library is explained and illustrated on an industrial example taken from the aeronautics domain. Similarly, in [55,56], an open source library for modeling system requirements has been defined, developed, and freely released. Such library, which implements the FORM-L specifications, allows a more formal modeling of requirements as well as their automatic simulation-based verification.…”
