On Implementing string-range() for TEI

Abstract: The Text Encoding Initiative Guidelines specify a number of pointer schemes for use in implementing standoff markup. This paper reports on an implementation of one of these pointer schemes, string-range(), and discusses the issues surrounding standoff markup in the context of TEI.
