On Partitioning the Domain for Test Case Reusability (Short Paper)

Abstract: During the life time of software or even within the development stage, it is inevitable that the software needs to be modified. Test cases used before for the previous version could be reused in order to reduce the cost of regression testing. This paper proposes a regression testing methodology, called Partitioning of Domain Testing (PDT), to analyze the input domains of the previous version and the modified version so that test cases can be maximally reused. As a result, software test engineers can spend less… Show more

“…Regression testing also has been extensively studied for new software developing methodology, for example, [3] has presented a framework and introduced many techniques to classing test cases according to the modifying of Control Flow Graph between original program and modified program, However, selecting reusing test case is expensive for computing modifying of CFG. [4] Presents domain based testing method to evaluate test cases reusability in aggression testing with input domain, which relies on software object modeling on three levels: Scripting, individual Manipulation of Object and Objective Attribute Value Section. Though it facilitates reusing of test case in regression testing, the selection of reusable test cases is a complicated and expensive job.…”
