On Processing Heterogeneous Sources of Limited Data for Uncertainty Quantification in a Possibilistic Framework
Tom Könecke,
Michael Hanss
Abstract:This contribution aims at highlighting the use of possibility theory in uncertainty quantification for engineering problems by inferring distributions from different sources of limited data and combining the gained knowledge to serve as a basis for subsequent decisions. The mathematical framework of possibility theory offers the ability to infer information in the form of concrete mathematical expressions from data in the narrow sense, while also proving convenient for the simultaneous or subsequent incorporat… Show more

scite is a Brooklyn-based organization that helps researchers better discover and understand research articles through Smart Citations–citations that display the context of the citation and describe whether the article provides supporting or contrasting evidence. scite is used by students and researchers from around the world and is funded in part by the National Science Foundation and the National Institute on Drug Abuse of the National Institutes of Health.
